A few weeks ago, Abel and I went down to the new Skull Candy corporate office. They wanted us to catch a few throw ups and tags around the place to make it a little less corporate. The wall in the parking lot caught our attention, we thought this was better. They loved it and we had a great time. They kicked off the opening with a big party. They had a taco stand and tons of beer! After a few too many, they put us up in a hotel, Good times!
I had the pleasure to take a trip out to the Bronx and hang with the guys from TUFF CITY. Their shop is off the hook! Half the shop is subway cars that are individual tattoo parlors, and the other half is the Montana New York Store. I painted with Per, Dose, and Med. I heard some classic New York graffiti stories! Thanks for the good times, and awesome stories!
Last weekend FUEL T.V. filmed an episode of “built to shred” at the new SKULL CANDY offices in San Clemente Ca. They hired OG Abel and myself to come down and play. I was involved in the action sports industry for years with Third Rail. It was a good opportunity to hang with some old friends. Good times…..
Double Trouble…Christian Hosoi, and Christian Fletcher….
The man the myth Steve Caballero getting ready to drop in on a Risk piece…
One of the ramps, we did about 6 or 7 of these….I liked this one because we used that new metallic green from the montana platinum line. It was banging in the sun, can’t tell on these photos….
We almost got taken out by skaters and freestyle bikers about 10 times…Heres Abel hitting little skull candy throw up while some guy hits a rail slide on top.
We’ve been hard at work getting ready to open the Montana spray paints Los Angeles flagship store. Here’s a few shots of the progress…
The spot was pretty thrashed, we had to strip down years of old floors, sub ceilings, and re do all the electrical etc. The wall racks hold over 3,000 cans and are made of steel so we had reinforce all the existing walls. Now that all the construction is done were installing all the custom fixtures. We should be open by next month. Here’s a few shots….
I was cleaning off my desktop and I came across these random shots. I thought they were cool, because they span over a quarter of a century and still represent who I am today… What comes around goes around…..
The first one is a shot where I still find true solace escape from politics and drama…..
The second is a shot from my high school bathroom, it reminds me of the chaotic politics and drama that I once thrived for. Keg ( my initials) was my undercover name. Two other names that especially hit home are Edit and Rival (R.I.P.). Many nights in solace (as seen above) have saved me from going too far down the same road as you guys. Write in Peace my brothers….
And the last one was a school project from about 25 years ago. This piece is now in the collection of a very close friend of mine. He is an extremely accomplished and talented artist. I’m very happy it belongs to him. The piece was self portrait assignment of sorts. I went to they yard and started spraying colors that reminded me of the sky, Then started sketching with a sharpie. I vividly remember thinking how electric the sunset looked against the black metal giants. Anyway, you get the picture, in a chaotic Urban Jungle I still find solace in the same place….
