The founders of the Los Angeles graffiti seen were on hand for an explosive opening at Buckshot Gallery in Santa Monica. the new indoor outdoor gallery space featured amazing customized graffiti skulls by RISK, SEEN, Everlast from House of Pain, Kenny Scharf, SABER and many other contemporary masters. the works themselves were lively and well thought out, ranging from fun to metaphysical. The backyard of the gallery served as a party space with krinks, Black Books even Louis Vuitton bags being handed around for world famous taggers to decorate
At 2 a.m. security and bartenders were spent as the party goers refused to leave. word came down from Risky himself “he said keep it goin.” the phrase passed from Risk to the seven foot security guards to the bartenders in a what looked like a bizarre mix of an adult version of “telephone.” The bartenders collapsed upon hearing these words and simply put all the booze and drinks on the counter and stumbled back on to the bags of ice behind the bar.

LA graffiti legend Kelly Graval, a.k.a. Risk, opened his new BuckShot Gallery in Santa Monica, California, at 3129 Pico Blvd. The opening group show, Noche de Calaveras, was an eclectic show of painted skulls by Seen, Kenny Scharf, Saber, Slick, Everlast from House of Pain, Estevan Oriol, and other contemporary masters.
The opening night was awash with wealthy investors and collectors with designer bags blending with scrappy graffiti artists with blunts, black books and neck tattoos. The work wasn’t displayed in an impressive fashion, but the works by Risk, Seen, Sel and others were so well thought out that they didn’t need fancy presentation. The newest addition to Los Angeles’ thriving art scene, Buckshot Gallery opened its doors in October with its star studded inaugural exhibition “Noche de Calaveras.” Co-founder and graffiti icon turned gallery owner RISK partnered with Kevin Zinger and Ivory Daniels from The Regime as well as local entrepreneurs Howard and Bryan Spunt to create a space in which artists could have the freedom to show works outside of their norm. “Noche de Calaveras” featured work from over thirty five iconic graffiti writers and artists in the form of mixed media skulls, prints, photographs, videos, and books.
The attendance was overwhelming and among this thriving crowd of art lovers were many of the exhibiting artists, including Van Styles, Vyal, Seen, Sel, Shark Toof, attending to sign books, chat about their pieces and lives.
